1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Ghostproof ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Ghostproof.

2. Proprietary Technology

The Ghostproof Editorial Engine is proprietary software. This includes, without limitation:

The complete editorial ruleset (currently 246+ rules)
The rule architecture, section structure, and TEST methodology
The genre pack data structures, beat sheet systems, and archetype libraries
The Voice DNA methodology and prompt assembly logic
The spice architecture, quality-control pipeline, and pre-flight check system
The UI design, workflow structure, and user experience

All of the above are original literary and artistic works protected by copyright law. You may not reproduce, copy, scrape, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works from any part of the Ghostproof engine without express written permission.

3. Permitted Use

You may use the Service to:

Generate, edit, and produce your own original book content
Download and use the output for personal or commercial publishing
Share output documents (Production Bibles, chapters) with editors or collaborators

You may not:

Reproduce, share, or publish the Ghostproof editorial rules or prompts
Use browser DevTools or any method to extract proprietary system prompts
Resell, sublicense, or white-label the Service or any part of it
Build a competing product using knowledge derived from the Service
Scrape, crawl, or automate requests to the Service

4. Your Content

You retain full ownership of all book content you create using the Service. Ghostproof does not claim any rights over your manuscripts, characters, stories, or other creative output. You are responsible for ensuring your content complies with applicable laws and platform policies (including Amazon KDP's AI disclosure requirements).

5. AI-Generated Content

Ghostproof uses Anthropic's Claude AI to generate content. By using the Service, you acknowledge that output is AI-generated and accept responsibility for reviewing, editing, and disclosing this appropriately on publishing platforms. Ghostproof is not liable for content that violates third-party platform policies.

6. Subscription and Billing

Paid subscriptions are billed monthly. You may cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Refunds are not provided for partial months. Ghostproof reserves the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice.

7. Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is." Ghostproof makes no warranties regarding uptime, output quality, or fitness for a particular purpose. In no event shall Ghostproof be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the Service.

7a. Cookies and Local Storage

Ghostproof uses one strictly necessary session cookie (set by Supabase) to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. The engine also uses your browser's localStorage to save your project data locally. This data stays on your device and is not sent to our servers. By using Ghostproof, you consent to this use of strictly necessary cookies and local storage. For full details see our Privacy Policy.

8. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

9. Changes to Terms

Ghostproof may update these terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
